    Sligo Cairde Festival 6th - 14th of July 2019

  • Cairde Sligo Arts Festival will take place this year from July 6th to 14th and once again Sligo will come to life with an incredible range of music, theatre, spoken word, dance, poetry trails, children’s and family events, visual art and more.

    Some of the festival highlights in 2018 included the annual massive outdoor celebration Park Fest on Sunday, July 8th, and the addition of the Circus Big Top coming to Stephen St Car Park in Sligo town from July 12th to 14th. The Big top will be filled with circus, street theatre and cabaret performances; clowning and circus workshops for children with performances by Tumble Circus, Lords of Strut and more.

    60th Yeats International Summer School

  • 60th Yeats International Summer School - now the world's longest running summer school!

    Dates: 25th July - 2nd August 2019

    This year's directors are Professor Matthew Campbell and Dr Lauren Arrington and they have chosen a great lineup of lecturers to mark this prestigious event. In addition, there will be music, poetry, readings, walks and talks. There will be stand up paddling, Irish dancing and some fairies at Glencar Waterfall. Further events will be added to the programme.

    A special Salute to Seamus evening will mark the poet Seamus Heaney's great literary achievements and his lifetime association with the Yeats Summer School.

    The Sligo Summer Festival has been pulling crowds from all over the country for six years now and it’s set to wedge the car park once again.

    Previous years has seen Aslan, Sister Sledge, Boney M, Wheatus,The Riptide Movement, Ryan Sheridan, The Saw Doctors, The Strypes, Jerry Fish, The Stunning and Sharon Shannon & Mundy headline with many other amazing Irish acts also grace the stage in what has become one of Irelands biggest festivals.
    The festival runs for four nights from Thursday to Sunday, and overlaps with Sligo Races two day August meeting
