Cairde Sligo Arts Festival will take place this year from July 6th to 14th and once again Sligo will come to life with an incredible range of music, theatre, spoken word, dance, poetry trails, children’s and family events, visual art and more.
Some of the festival highlights in 2018 included the annual massive outdoor celebration Park Fest on Sunday, July 8th, and the addition of the Circus Big Top coming to Stephen St Car Park in Sligo town from July 12th to 14th. The Big top will be filled with circus, street theatre and cabaret performances; clowning and circus workshops for children with performances by Tumble Circus, Lords of Strut and more.

This year's directors are Professor Matthew Campbell and Dr Lauren Arrington and they have chosen a great lineup of lecturers to mark this prestigious event. In addition, there will be music, poetry, readings, walks and talks. There will be stand up paddling, Irish dancing and some fairies at Glencar Waterfall. Further events will be added to the programme.
A special Salute to Seamus evening will mark the poet Seamus Heaney's great literary achievements and his lifetime association with the Yeats Summer School.
